Table and floor lamp ‘Shogun’ by Mario Botta for Artemide 1980.

As identifiable as Jean Paul Gaultier’s striped sweater, Mario Botta’s work is all in rectilinear silhouettes, volume and space; a legendary architect that applied his skills to furniture design and we sure are happy he did so.

Minimal and exceptionally discrete, rather than the physical structure of the lamp it’s the light and shadows that this object casts that catches the eye in a very unexpected and unusual way.

A true ambassador of post modernist design.
